Are the pop culture references on Sports Center just getting old and uninteresting?

I hate to say this, but I’m starting to miss the shows that used to just give you straight up sports highlights without the stupid puns, nicknames, rap references, etc.

Yes, I gaurantee you in some ESPN Corporate office, they are talking to the ever annoying Stuart Scott about wanting to attract more inner city kids. They tell him to listen to rap songs and try to fit in with the cool people at night clubs and play basketball in the ghetto to learn the new slangs.

the 2 worst are: booyah and Hater in da house.

Naw, they crack me up sometimes. The Boogie Nights references when they talk about Dirk Nowitzki are a hoot. Sure, a lot of it is silly, but it’s Sportscenter, it’s BSPN. The quality of their reporting is so crap, you need the pop culture references to distract you from noticing just how bad it is.

I’m pretty much sick of Sportscenter, I would rather listen to my local sportstalk radio or ESPN radio, even though Dan Patrick is whiney and annoying. Jason Smith on all night on espn radio is the best. On my local fsn sports we have a local call in show that is on tv, and also a local sportscenter type show, I’d much rather watch either of these. These guys at espn aren’t movie stars, and ESPN is not God, sick of hearing about espn mobile too.

I just get sick of watching the same episode 5 times in the morning. And i’m getting freaking sick and tired of this mobile espn phone all they do is talk about it. "lets go to john clayton on the mobile espn phone" its so annoying even on baseball tonight "we have an espn mobile alert"

I think it spices things up a bit. Occasionally they will say something that totally cracks me up, but now I’m so used to the way that they report sports news that it would be too wierd without it.
