There is no pool of money that is divided up to the winners. However, a bookmaker can try to influence future bets by the amount of bets by one side to another by adjusting the point spread or moneyline. The best example is Superbowl XLII, Pats vs. Giants. The opening line favored the Pats by 14 points. By gametime, most books had the Pats favored by only 11 points, give or take. This is because there were so many people taking the Giants, and the bookmakers wanted to sway the action to the Pats. Bookies make more money when there is equal action on both sides. An individual bookmaker can move a line in any direction. Any bets made prior to moving lines will stay as made. As a result of the heavy betting on the Giants, many Vegas bookmakers lost money for that day. How much the bettors won had nothing directly to do with how many people already made bets.

You can follow patterns, though. Check out different sportsbooks online and see what the opening lines are for any given sport. Check back before game time and see if the lines are adjusted.
References :
http://dagus-statistics.com

I cnat quite understand your question. It depends only on the odds. Not how much people bet. Take for example you put a bet on odds of 3.0 and put 10$. IF you win you will take 30$
References :
http://www.betting-forum.com/
