Does being a sports team manager look good on a college application?

Posted by admin on March 2nd, 2010 and filed under team sports | 1 Comment »

I don’t do school sports because I prefer to exercise outside of school, but I was offered the position of being a team manager. I know it won’t hold the same weight on a college application as four years of a being on the team would, but is there a chance that it will help me when colleges are looking at my application?

yes, it will help u

Has a professional sports team perished together in an airplane crash?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under team sports | 8 Comments »

Professional sports teams like the Raiders and Diamondbacks travel from coast-to-coast all the time. If one of these flights were to end in a nasty crash, the entire team would be killed. This would be extremely devastating. Has it ever happened?

The Superga air disaster took place on Wednesday, 4 May 1949, when a plane carrying almost the entire Torino A.C. football squad, popularly known as Il Grande Torino, crashed into the hill of Superga near Turin killing all 31 aboard including 18 players, club officials, journalists accompanying the team, and the plane’s crew.

On October 2, 1970 a Martin 4-0-4 aircraft flown by Golden Eagle Aviation crashed near Silver Plume, Colorado. It was one of two planes carrying the Wichita State University football team to Logan, Utah for a game against Utah State University

The Munich air disaster took place on 6 February 1958, when British European Airways Flight 609 crashed on its third attempt to take off from a slush-covered runway at Munich-Riem Airport in Munich, West Germany. On board the plane was the Manchester United football team, nicknamed the "Busby Babes", along with a number of supporters and journalists. 23 of the 44 people on board the aircraft died as a result of the crash.

Sabena Flight 548, registration OO-SJB, was a Boeing 707 aircraft en route from New York International Airport (later renamed John F. Kennedy International Airport) to Brussels, Belgium’s Zaventem Airport on February 15, 1961. The flight crashed during the approach for landing. All 72 on board were killed, as was one person on the ground. The crash was the first fatal accident involving a Boeing 707 in regular passenger service.[1] Among the dead were the entire United States Figure Skating team, who were en route to the 1961 World Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

On October 29, 1960, a chartered C-46 plane carrying the California Polytechnic State University football team, hours after a 50-6 loss to Bowling Green State University, crashed on takeoff at the Toledo Express Airport in Toledo, Ohio after the left engine lost power. Twenty-two of the forty-eight people on board were killed, including sixteen players, the team’s student manager and a Cal Poly football booster.

What individual and team sports is United States participating in?

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2010 and filed under team sports | 3 Comments »

Individual and team sports? And headline performers from the United States?

The US has entries in every scheduled Olympic Event.

I will let you figure out the second half of your question, because that is pretty subjective.

Why would you become a fan of a sports team?

Posted by admin on February 24th, 2010 and filed under team sports | 4 Comments »

I know absolutely nothing about sports, so I apologize if this is a stupid question.

I was just wondering, why would you become a fan of a certain sports team? I can understand cheering for your state’s team or your college’s team, but why would you be a fan of a different team? Other than skill, what makes one team any better than another team? Is it the personalities of the players? Is it how physically attractive they are? Is it how much their colors appeal to you?

You have to always do things to support that team. I personally like th arizona wildcats. My avatar has a wildcat shirt, and if people say go ASU, i say go UofA! You have to absorb yourself in the team.

How do I get a professional sports team to agree to let me use their name on a team related product?

Posted by admin on February 22nd, 2010 and filed under team sports | 1 Comment »

I have a unique idea for a product that is specific to a professional sports team. What steps should I take to get them to sign on to the idea. I assume they will want a percentage. Any help would b e greatly appreciated.

Contact the league office and then be prepared to shell out huge bucks if they agree.

Which team sports do you find the most grossly over-paid players?

Posted by admin on February 20th, 2010 and filed under team sports | 7 Comments »

I like team sports, don’t get me wrong. But I notice that certain ’stars’ in some sports get more money than ‘I’ think they deserve. The # 1 sport for over-paid (and over-hyped) athletes is basketball. But some ’stars’ in baseball are definitely over-paid as well.

I mean i think they are all highly overpaid, but just listen to this crazy ass stat:

ARod makes around 37000 per at bat. Regardless if he hits a HR, strikeouts, or whatever, he makes 37 grand every time he goes to the batters box. (This is given that he has 600 AB’s per season). That is just absolutely unreal.

Im not saying ARod is overrated at all, he is the best player in the game (IMO) by far, but that is absolutely ridiculous.

Again every team sport has alot of overpaid players: In football there is the horrible Michael Vick with one of the richest contracts (around 18 million a season). In basketball Allan Houston is the second highest paid player in the NBA TODAY, he hasnt played a game since like 2004 and he is still getting 20 million a season b/c the Knicks are morons. Thats just unbelievable.

I have to agree that its basketball, but i at least respect the way they have contracts set up. Like a rookie cannot come straight in and make a certain amt of money and cant make more than an NBA vet. Stuff like that, but again Penny Hardaway and Allan Houston are still making an assload of money and havent played in forever, thats just ridiculous.

What are some good ideas for sports team crafts?

I make most of the Christmas gifts I give, and I have discovered that the best thing to give men is something related to their favorite sports team. I have made pillows and blankets and a few other random things in the past. Any other ideas?
