Is yoga good alternative to doing weights or normal cardio exercises or sports for fitness?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under fitness sports | 4 Comments »

Is yoga good?

In a given week I run and lift and do yoga. Yoga, in my experience, can be the toughest work-out if done right. Variety in exercise is crucial to fitness. Yoga can provide that, I think, more than just doing weights or cardio. My advice is to mix it up.

Do you think anyone who exclusively runs or lifts weights is as physically fit as this guy?

What is a good school in California if I want to major in Sports Medicine/fitness?

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2010 and filed under fitness sports | 1 Comment »

This is what i REALLY want to do and i have been dreaming about it since i was young. What schools are there in California that specialize or have a recognized sport medicine program? Preferably near the beach. Thanks!!

UCLA has to be the best school for sports medicine. You should also check Pepperdine, USC, and Long Beach St.

College athletic department, moving up to athletic director (hopefully) some day. Athletic director for a high school or school district. Facility manager for a health club, arena, stadium, or the like. Working in amateur sports (Olympic governing bodies like USA Boxing, USA Hockey, etc.). Working in the front office for a professional sports team. Working for a governing body for professional sports (like the NBA or the NHL).

Just a few ideas.

Does anybody have any suggestions on a marketing angle of sports nutrition products at a fitness club?

Posted by admin on February 20th, 2010 and filed under fitness sports | 1 Comment »

I’ve recently started a sports nutrition company selling supplements out of a state of the art fitness club. I don’t want to be another statistic by having the company fold after one year in operation. Looking for ideas to increase the viability of this enterprise. Thanks for your time.

Does anyone have any information regarding the major sports and fitness administration?

Posted by admin on February 18th, 2010 and filed under fitness sports | 1 Comment »

I’m a freshman at Fullerton college and basically all I know about what I want to do is to be involved in sports and the business aspect of it. Does anyone have any information about what courses I should take or what kind of jobs I should be trying to get? Any information at all would be much appreciated.

Your key words are sports and business, with emphasis on business. Things you could do are front office work, being a player agent, go into sports marketing, or sales. There are others, but these jump out immediately. A nose for talent would be beneficial.

Courses in business, marketing, sales, accounting, and office administration would head you in the right direction. I don’t know about Fullerton College, but loading up on Physical Fitness courses (over time) would also be beneficial.

You might consider getting your foot in the door and gain experience with a local school, or perhaps a minor league team in the area.
